In addition to Java (version 6 or better required for content development) you'll need the following software in order to obtain and work with the Wonderland source distribution*:
CVS
Subversion (Optional for content development)
Ant
* NOTE: all of the software on this list is open source and freely available.
Both CVS and Subversion are open source version control systems that you need in order to check out the Wonderland source distribution from Sun. Ant is an open source XML-driven software developer's build tool due to the Apache group. If you don't already know about it you can learn more about Ant on the Wikipedia (of course).

You can download and install CVS from here...
And you can download and install Subversion here (but note; Subversion is not required to check out Wonderland Modules required for content development ~~ only optional modules related to application sharing and other non-essential Wonderland features)...
